Services Provided

In Class Intervention
The LSP teacher goes into the classroom with the student, supervises, and assists them with organizational and study skills during the whole period. She also helps the teacher with the activities, class management, and makes sure the appropriate accommodations and modifications are implemented.

Pull-Out
The student goes to the LSP classroom and receives the assistance he/she needs according to the evaluations and decisions made by the LSP department. There are different pull-out programs provided for each student's need:
  • Dyslexia Remediation: use of the Orton-Gillingham Approach (Barton System)
  • Language Awareness: programs built around phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, and working with words.
  • Handwriting/Writing/Study Skills: Provide specific programs built around improving handwriting techniques, writing styles, and/or study/organizational skills.
Monitoring
Supervision of student performance for kids who do not assist the pull-out program, keeping in mind that they still require accommodations.

Regular Classroom Accommodations
Supervision of regular classroom accommodations by collecting differentiated tests, and assisting teachers in special cases. We also make sure that every MEP student involved in the LSP program has the proper documentation to receive accommodations during National Tests (9th and 11th).
